5 Things Your Office Reception Area Needs

Your office’s reception area is a really important space. You set the tone for your entire office and company with the décor in your reception area. Make your reception area really shine for employees, management, and visitors to appreciate on a regular basis. Here are the 5 things you need to think about when designing the ideal reception area.

  1. Choose a color scheme

Nothing says “boring office space” than a reception area that lacks color. Don’t go with plain old white – pick a color (or set of colors) that will work well for the paint on the walls, feature in the artwork, and work for the fabric of your reception area’s chairs and couches. Ideal color choices are light blues, greens, grays, and pinks, rather than bolder colors like yellow, black, and red. This will set a relaxing, pleasant tone for your office and be welcoming for all kinds of people who spend time at your office.

  1. Pick out seating

Every reception area requires some seating. PnP Office Furniture has plenty of excellent reception furniture options including lounge chairs, armless chairs, couches, stools, and couches. Make sure the colors of your seating choices all go together and don’t be afraid to mix and match to give your reception area real visual appeal.

  1. Lights, camera, action

Once you’ve chosen a color scheme and seating options, you’re well on your way to an attractive, comfortable reception area. Now turn your focus to lighting. Make sure your sources of light aren’t too strong, or it will make guests uncomfortable, though you don’t want the lights to be overly dim, either. Don’t be afraid to test out a few different light options to achieve the optimal level of light in your reception area.

  1. Give your reception area distinctive flair with some artwork. Add visual interest with

some well-chosen artwork that’ll give guest something to talk about. Avoid themes that wouldn’t be office-appropriate, and make sure your stay away from anything provocative (unless it jives with your company message).

  1. Consider adding some reading material and music

Add some magazines to give guests something to read while they wait. Calming music can provide a relaxing atmosphere that makes guests’ first impressions of your office pleasant.
